Cyber Knife Day #2

Today, we were over to Dr. Stewart's office (radiation oncologist) for a 10:30a appointment with the second round of the Cyber Knife.

They were running a little behind, so she actually didn't get in until 11:15 for the 60 minute treatment.  Everyone, again, was very happy with the results.

We decided on Joe's Crab Shack for lunch.  The Corpus Christi location on the bay has a beautiful view.

After lunch, we ventured over to Portland and Sea Breeze RV resort to visit our friends.  We got to meet Sadiee, Justin and Kristie's new boxer puppy.  There's nothing better than 'puppy therapy'.  It was great to see everyone again, and catch up on the park scuttlebutt from the last month.

After we returned home to Rockport, Connie was whipped.  Doesn't "hurt", but just not much energy.

Tomorrow, our final round with the Cyber Knife.

We shouldn't whine about the weather......

When our daughter lived in Florida, and we were still in Ohio, we had a rule:  no gloating about how nice it is there.

Now we can winter wherever we like and she's in Ohio.  We try not to gloat, but our complaints about the crappy weather here kind of fall on deaf ears.  It's been awful since New Year's Day (in our terms).  40's and 50's with wind and rain.  Yuck.

Certainly haven't done much.  We did go meet with the Heartland Owners Group of the Coastal Bend for dinner at Pepito's here in Portland, TX.  Great group of folks.

Our favorite place is....

#1 question we get asked without a close second (although "how do you get your mail" is up there) is "where's the favorite place you've been?"  Usually irritates people when we don't directly answer them.

Love it here in New Smyrna Beach.  But we love it in Portland (TX), too.  And we loved Tucson.  NSB is different than Corpus, Corpus is different than Tucson, Tucson is different than NSB.

Maybe we're not old enough yet to be in such a routine where we ALWAYS come back to one spot for the winter.  It will probably happen, but right now the three winter spot rotation suits us just fine.  Each one has its plusses and minuses, but the positives FAR outweigh the negatives for each location.

NSB and Portland have beaches, Tucson has the desert.  Each of the parks have a close knit, "family" feel and great weather.

Sorry not to answer, but we don't have a favorite place there's something about each of them we love.

Finally, the Bug to Raft Was Too Much

It was finally too hard to wait, with 70+ degrees and sunshine all day that we blew up the raft, fired up the engine and headed out on this water we've been seeing since the first of December.

A bit of a learning experience, as it's so shallow and has a ton of mossy like 'stuff' in it (almost overheated from the get go as I got some in the intake).  But, like always it seems, we had a good ride.

Was good first trial for Carmen, who seems to really like the water, but had never been in the raft.

As you can see from the video, started looking like we were going to get rained on so we cut it short.

There will be more!

We've Been Busy...Kinda

Hope everyone had a great holiday season.  Hard to believe it has been that long since our last post.  We will try and catch you up on what we have been doing.

Since landing in Portland, TX, we have been learning our way around and getting to know the neighbors.  Made some great friends that we have been hanging out with on occasion.  Unfortunately, they did not have a long-term reservation and had to move to another park.  Good news is that their new place is near the beach and within an easy drive.

We can now say that we survived the first Christmas alone.  It wasn't easy, but thanks to technology (video phones), we made the best of it.

The new year came and went with no big fanfare here.  Pretty much business as usual for us.

Bob celebrated a birthday on January 8th with a trip to Galveston.  We were supposed to have a luncheon and tour on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas, but due to fog in the harbor, that was cancelled.  However, he was surprised by a visit from our daughter from Ohio.  We had been secretly planning the visit for some time.  Sure was fun to spend a few days with her!

Now, why have we been so busy?  Well, for one of our Christmas gifts, we received a monthly golf membership to the local Country Club - Northshore Country Club.  We have been making the most of the membership and playing nearly every day.  Feels great to be back on the course again.

That, coupled with running our travel business, has kept us hopping.  Things are starting to get back to normal and we are feeling very settled in.  Hopefully, we will be able to post more regularly again.

See ya down the road!
