Just curious. Do you regularly plan your RV'ing adventures this far in advance? My wife and are are 48 days from retirement and are moving in the direction of fulltiming -- as soon as we can get the house sold -- but this post caught my attention.

Peter,
ReplyDeleteWe do, and we're in a real, real small minority.
We're using Tucson (AZ), Corpus Christi (TX) and New Smyrna Beach (FL) as our winter ports. I sat down a couple of years ago in some idle time and made a list of events during the summer/fall we want to do for the next ten years, mostly sporting events. Next year is the Ryder Cup in Chicago, so we'll go from Texas to Texas, via Chicago. The following year, my alma mater (The Ohio State University) is playing Cal at Berkely, so we'll go from Texas to Tucson via Berkely and so on.
We're also different in the fact that we're only on the road 20 some days a year. We drive from point A to point B and squat for a month. Therefore, it's important we find parks that offer monthly rates that are in our budget and have good ratings on the sites.
Hope that helps. Make sure you follow us and best of luck to you and your wife in 48 days (but who's counting???)!!!
